Albert Finney Fast Facts:

Both his father and his grandfather were successful bookies.
Twice failed his finals at Salford Grammar School, prompting the headmaster to suggest Finney apply to RADA.
Attended RADA with Alan Bates, Peter O'Toole and Brian Bedford.
Chosen to play the title role in Lawrence of Arabia but turned it down because it would mean signing a long-term contract; recommended O'Toole for the role, and went on to star in Tom Jones instead.
Sang in two of his films: Scrooge (1970) and Annie (1982).
