Sang in her high school choir with future duet partner Neil Diamond.
Dropped the second "a" from her first name in her early twenties.
Won her breakthrough starring Broadway role as Fanny Brice in Funny Girl over Anne Bancroft, Carol Burnett and Mary Martin.
Was nominated for a 1964 Tony Award for her performance in Funny Girl but lost to Carol Channing in Hello, Dolly!. Five years later, Streisand played Channing's role in the film version of Hello, Dolly!.
Won an Oscar for her movie debut in 1968's Funny Girl, tying with Katharine Hepburn for The Lion in Winter, resulting in the first tie in the Best Actress category.
