Scott Bakula Fast Facts:
  • Started a rock band called Insurrexion at the age of 10; Bakula was the drummer, lead singer and sometime-songwriter.
  • Played soccer and tennis in high school, lettering seven times, and was president of his varsity club.
  • Studied law for a short time at the University of Kansas, planning to follow in the footsteps of his father and brother, both attorneys.
  • Secured his Actors Equity card in 1976 with a role in the traveling company of Shenandoah; made his Broadway debut seven years later in the musical Marilyn: An American Fable.
  • Early in his career, appeared in commercials for Canada Dry ginger ale and Folgers Coffee.
  • Wrote the song "Somewhere in the Night" for the NBC sci-fi series Quantum Leap, which provided Bakula's breakthrough role in the character of Sam Beckett.
  • Made his big-screen debut in Carl Reiner's 1990 comedy Sibling Rivalry, co-starring Kirstie Alley and Bill Pullman.
  • An avowed Star Trek fan, Bakula further cemented his sci-fi status when he landed the role of Captain Jonathan Archer on UPN's Star Trek: Enterprise (2001-05).
