A sultry actress who has proved that women over 40 could still be hot, Cattrall moved to New York at 16 to study acting and made her film and stage debuts before she was out of her teens. Although she never lacked for work, her talents were squandered in a succession of lowbrow comedies (Porky's, Police Academy, Mannequin) that made money but did little to bolster her career. After two decades in the biz, Cattrall landed the star-making role of a promiscuous publicist on Sex and the City, a part that turned her into a mature sex symbol and prompted her to write several self-help sexpert books.
