Attended school with Doug Bradley, who ended up playing Pinhead in his Hellraiser series.
Won a World Fantasy Award for Best Anthology or Collection in 1985 for Clive Barker's Books of Blood.
Made his feature-film directorial debut with 1987's Hellraiser, based on his novella The Hellbound Heart.
In a departure from his usual dark, adult-oriented material, he wrote and illustrated a successful children's book, The Thief of Always, in 1992.
Presented his artwork in the 1993 exhibition "Clive Barker: Paintings and Drawings 1973-1993" at a New York City art gallery.
