An attractive television actress adept at playing professional characters who hide their messy personal lives, Britton came to prominence as an office accountant on Spin City after making a big-screen splash in Edward Burns' 1995 dramedy The Brothers McMullen. Although she worked with the film director two more times (Looking for Kitty, No Looking Back), the small screen remained her primary medium. And while not all her series have been hits — neither Lost at Home nor The Fighting Fitzgeralds, penned and produced by Burns, lasted an entire season — memorable recurring roles on The West Wing and 24 have kept her in the public eye.
