Kevin Costner Fast Facts:

Was a pitcher on his high school baseball team only because that was the only position open.
Urged to pursue an acting career by Richard Burton during a chance meeting on a flight from Mexico.
First acting job was a 1974 Malibu beach cheapie titled Sizzle Beach, U.S.A., not (as usually reported) 1983's The Big Chill, where his scenes were left on the cutting-room floor.
The role of the President in Air Force One (1997) was written specifically for him, but he turned it down and the part went to Harrison Ford; also turned down the role of Bill in Quentin Tarantino's Kill Bill: Vol. 1.
Received a star on the Walk of Fame in August 2003.
