Denzel Washington Fast Facts:

One of his college professors encouraged him to pursue a career in acting.
In 1978, he attended the American Conservatory Theater in San Francisco.
In April 2005, he starred as Brutus in a Broadway production of Julius Caesar. He had previously acted on the Great White Way in 1988's Checkmates.
Has won seven NAACP Image Awards for leading roles and two for supporting roles.
Played the lead in four Spike Lee films: Mo' Better Blues (1990), Malcolm X (1992), He Got Game (1998) and Inside Man (2006).
