Ed Harris Fast Facts:

Father was once a backup singer for Ray Charles.
Was a star baseball and football player in high school and continued playing football at Columbia University.
Breakthrough role was as astronaut John Glenn in 1983's The Right Stuff.
Met and married Amy Madigan while working with her in 1984's Places in the Heart.
The 2000 biopic Pollock was a labor of love that he worked on for 10 years. Ultimately Harris produced and directed it himself, and earned an Oscar nod for his performance as the legendary painter.
