Edward Burns Fast Facts:

Started out in showbiz as a production assistant for Entertainment Tonight.
Made his film acting, directing, writing and producing debut with the 1995 indie drama The Brothers McMullen, which won an Independent Spirit Award for Best First Feature.
Shared in a SAG nomination for Outstanding Performance by a Cast for 1998's Saving Private Ryan, the first film he appeared in that he did not also write and direct.
Formed Irish Twin Productions with his screenwriting brother Brian Burns.
Was awarded an honorary degree from Hunter College in 2002. He had majored in film studies at the institution but left a few credits short of graduating.
