Alfred Hitchcock Fast Facts:

Developed a lifelong fear of police as a young child when his father sent him to the police station. The police chief locked him in a cell for a few minutes saying, "This is what we do to naughty boys." Hitchcock subsequently said he didn't have the faintest idea of why he was being punished.
Made a cameo appearance in almost all of his movies starting with 1927's The Lodger.
Directed England's first sound film, 1929's Blackmail.
Wife Alma Reville was a film editor and writer who collaborated on many of his films.
Often stated that his favorite of his own films was 1943's Shadow of a Doubt.
Nominated for a Best Male Personality Emmy in 1957.
Despite being considered one of the greatest directors of all time, he never won a competitive Oscar.
