Helen Slater Fast Facts:

Made her stage debut at 8 years old in a production of Pinocchio.
Began acting professionally as a teenager, appearing in commercials for chewing gum and cereal.
First starring role came with the 1982 ABC Afterschool Special Amy and the Angel.
Dyed her hair blond and gained 20 pounds for her feature debut as Supergirl (1984).
Memorable big-screen roles include teenage vigilante Billie Jean Davy in The Legend of Billie Jean (1985) and ditsy kidnapper Sandy in Ruthless People (1986).
Along with actor Gina Gershon, co-founded New York theatre group The Naked Angels in 1987; also co-founded two Los Angeles theatre groups, Otis Inspired and The Bubalaires.
Has made guest appearances on a number of popular TV series, including Seinfeld, Will & Grace and Smallville.
Released her first CD, the self-penned One of These Days, in 2003; it was followed by Crossword in 2005.
