  • His father was an Anglican Vicar and his brother was a monk. 
  • Quentin Crisp was a model at the art school Hurt attended. Hurt later played Crisp in the 1975 TV-movie The Naked Civil Servant.  
  • Breakthrough film role was as Richard Rich in Fred Zinnemann's A Man for All Seasons (1966).
  • Announced the death of Richard Burton in 1984. That same year, they had worked together in 1984, Burton's final feature.
