Margot Kidder Fast Facts:

Made her film debut in 1969's Gaily, Gaily, directed by Norman Jewison.
Breakthrough role was playing Lois Lane in the 1978 hit Superman (beating out Stockard Channing for the part).
Was involved in a serious car crash in 1990 and was confined to a wheelchair for the next two years; after her insurance would not pay her bills, she declared bankruptcy.
Disappeared for three days in the spring of 1996; was found hiding in the backyard of a Glendale, CA, home, disheveled and rambling incoherently; was subsequently diagnosed with manic depression.
Became a U.S. citizen in 2005.
