Rose McGowan Biography

rose mcgowan
  • Birth Name: Rose Jane McGowan
  • Birth Place: Florence, Italy
  • Date of Birth / Zodiac Sign: 09/05/1974, Virgo
  • Profession: Actor
Although for years this Goth-styled goddess was best known as Marilyn Manson's fiancée — her skin-tight, see-through chain mail dress at the 1998 MTV Video Awards ushered many an adolescent into puberty — McGowan made her own name away from the shock rocker in a number of B-projects. She startled viewers and critics alike as a troubled teen in the violence-and-sex soaked 1995 indie The Doom Generation and the next year she hit the Hollywood mainstream as one of the pretty victims in the horror flick Scream. While she continued to grace the big screen in campy, low-rent fare (Jawbreaker, Monkeybone), TV is where she became a star. As the long-lost sister of a trio of witches, McGowan joined the cast of Charmed in 2001 after Shannen Doherty left the series. With her deadpan delivery, ever-changing hair color and perfect body sheathed in barely-there fashions, she helped the show weather Doherty's departure and became a men's magazine staple. After the series was canceled in 2006, she returned to movies, notably playing two antithetical virgin/whore type roles in Quentin Tarantino/Robert Rodriguez double feature Grindhouse. During filming, rumors circulated that she engaged in an affair with Rodriguez, who was married to his producing partner Elizabeth Avellan at the time. Reportedly production shut down on the movie for a month due to the behind-the-scenes drama. Apparently McGowan was a femme fatale both on screen and in life.
