  • After college, she worked clerical jobs in Hollywood, first for Tim Conway and David Steinberg, then for Norman Lear's production company.
  • Big break came when Norman Lear put her on All in the Family as a friend of Sally Struthers' Gloria. Lear later cast her as country singer Loretta Haggers on the cult soap spoof Mary Hartman, Mary Hartman.
  • Wrote more than six dozen songs for her Haggers character, and also recorded two albums, including the Grammy-nominated Tonite! At the Capri Lounge, Loretta Haggers.
  • Teamed with friend Linda Bloodworth to write scripts for The Mary Tyler Moore Show, Paul Sand in Friends and Lovers and M*A*S*H.
