Ned Beatty Fast Facts:

Received a music scholarship to Kentucky's Transylvania University.
Has eight children.
Worked in regional theater in Virginia, Pennsylvania and Texas, and at the Arena Stage in Washington, DC, before making his Broadway debut in 1968 in The Great White Hope.
Memorable roles include his 1972 film debut Deliverance, playing a rape victim, and his brief, Oscar-nominated role in 1976's Network.
Made his TV debut on The Waltons in 1973.
Has been so versatile (and in-demand) throughout his career that Daily Variety once called him "the busiest man in Hollywood."
Has suffered from bipolar disorder since he was in his twenties.
Released his debut CD, In the Beginning Was the Word, in 2006.
