Started playing music at age 8 after his grandfather gave him instruments as a gift.
Began performing stand-up at age 11; first routine was on his father's cable-access show; had gigs in Hollywood at the Imrov, the Laugh Factory and the Comedy Store as a teen.
Cofounded two-man rap group Da Bomb Squad in high school; later opened for Montell Jordan, LFO and mentor Will Smith.
