Olympia Dukakis Fast Facts:

Parents were Greek immigrants.
Was a fencing champion in high school.
Has a degree in physical therapy and worked with polio patients in the '50s.
Taught drama at New York University in the '70s and '80s.
Has appeared in over 125 regional theater productions.
Founding member of Boston's Charles Street Playhouse and Montclair, New Jersey's Whole Theatre.
Her Oscar for Moonstruck (1987) was stolen from her New Jersey home but she was able to buy a replacement statuette from the Academy.
