  • Was roommates with Christopher Reeve at New York's Juilliard School. The two remained close friends and, during the final years of Reeve's life, Williams helped pay his medical bills.
  • Recognized early on for his improvisational skills; writers of Mork & Mindy left gaps in the scripts for him to just wing it.
  • Half brother, Todd, appeared in Mrs. Doubtfire as the bartender; he was credited as "Dr. Toad."
  • After approximately 20 years of sobriety, he checked himself into rehab for alcohol addiction in August, 2006.
