Philip Seymour Hoffman Fast Facts:

A neck injury forced him to leave his high-school wrestling team (he also played baseball).
Played Radar in M*A*S*H and Willy Loman in Death of a Salesman in his high school.
Between junior and senior years in high school, attended a Saratoga Springs (NY) drama camp, where he met and became friends with Bennett Miller (director of Capote) and Dan Futterman (screenwriter for Capote).
Earliest TV acting role was during first season of Law & Order ("The Violence of Summer," 2/5/91); later played a small role during the series' third season ("Jurisdiction," 4/7/93).
Co-artistic director for Manhattan's LAByrinth Theater Company, where he directed productions including In Arabia, We'd All Be Kings. During that run, met costume designer Mimi O'Donnell, with whom he had a son, Cooper, in 2003.
