Jane Seymour Biography

jane seymour
  • Birth Name: Joyce Penelope Wilhelmina Frankenberg
  • Birth Place: Hillingdon, England
  • Date of Birth / Zodiac Sign: 02/15/1951, Aquarius
  • Profession: Actor; producer; author
Eternally youthful and "veddy" British, this long-tressed beauty trained as a dancer before becoming a TV staple. Although she tackled a number of memorable movie roles — a Bond girl in Live and Let Die, an early-20th-century stage star in Somewhere in Time, a middle-aged sex kitten in Wedding Crashers — Emmy winner Seymour remains the queen of the small screen with myriad melodramatic miniseries and TV-movies on her résumé, not to mention a six-season stint as a feisty 19th-century feminist on Dr. Quinn, Medicine Woman. After wrapping a recurring role on Smallville, the fiftysomething actress signed on to her first sitcom, Modern Men, in 2006. Off screen, the mother of four has published several books and devotes much of her time to charitable causes.
Jane Seymour Fast Facts:
  • Dubbed "Queen of the Miniseries" (Richard Chamberlain was the king) for her string of small-screen roles from 1976-92.
  • Received a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame in 1999 and was made an Officer of the Order of the British Empire the next year.
  • Popular movie turns include a James Bond girl in Live and Let Die (1973) and a randy upper-class mother in Wedding Crashers (2005), but her fans would likely consider her big-screen peak to be the 1980 cult romantic fantasy Somewhere in Time, opposite Christopher Reeve.
  • Has published books, painted and designed a signature line of clothing.
  • Purchased St. Catherine's Court, a 15th century historic manor house near Bath, England.
  • Dedicated to children's charities, including UNICEF, Make-A-Wish Foundation and Childhelp USA (which honored her with a "Woman of the World" award).
  • Became an American citizen in 2005.
