William B. Davis Fast Facts:

Began acting as a child, working in summer stock with Ontario's Straw Hat Players.
Served as assistant director of England's National Theatre for six years.
Was the artistic director of Montreal's National Theatre School's English Acting Program.
In 1989, he opened the William Davis Centre for Actors' Study in Vancouver, which counts Xena star Lucy Lawless among its former pupils.
An avid waterskiier, he has been the Canadian national champion several times.
Although best known for his turn on The X Files as the Cigarette-Smoking Man, in real life he quit smoking in the '70s prompting him to use herbal cigarettes on the show.
