Richard Widmark Fast Facts:

Attended college on a full scholarship intending to study law; after graduation he stayed on for two years as an acting instructor in the drama department.
Made his Broadway debut in 1943 in Kiss and Tell.
Received his only Oscar nomination for his first film, Kiss of Death (1947), making one of the most memorable debuts in film history as a sadistic killer who giggles maniacally as he pushes a wheelchair-bound old woman down a flight of stairs.
Madigan (1972) was his only TV series, a short-lived 6-episode cop show based on his 1968 movie of the same name, despite the fact that he died at the end of the film.
Married his college sweetheart in 1942 and stayed married to her until her death in 1997; his second wife was once married to Henry Fonda.
His daughter Anne Heath Widmark was formerly married to baseball legend Sandy Koufax.
